ADVANCED POST FROM
ATLANTIC FOREST BIOSPHERE RESERVE

The Betary Reserve received the title of RBMA Outpost in 2009 under the MaB – UNESCO program.

The Outposts are centers for the dissemination of ideas, concepts, programs and projects developed by the Mata Atlantica Biosphere Reserve.

To be an outpost approved by the Council, the institution must develop at least two of the Reserve’s three basic functions in the fields of biodiversity protection, sustainable development, and scientific and traditional knowledge of the Atlantic Forest.

Reserva Betary carries out activities that fulfill the three basic functions of RBMA:

– Maintains a reserve of over 60 hectares of Atlantic Forest reserve;

– Contributes to the sustainable development of the region by supporting the ecotourism and scientific tourism activity;

– Its main focus is the development of Scientific Research on the fauna and flora of the region.
